Teen dies in crash
Thu. Dec 17th 2009

Staff report
Glasgow Daily Times

A one-vehicle crash early today took the life of a Metcalfe County teenager.

The preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred around 7:50 am, on Coral Hill-Halfway Road, also known as Ky. 2131, approximately 7.5 miles northeast of Glasgow, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s Office report.

Molly E. Thompson, 17, a senior at Barren County High School, was traveling south on Coral Hill-Halfway Road and lost control of a 2006 Pontiac G6 causing the car to leave the roadway and strike a tree, according to the report.

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene by Barren County Corner Mike Swift. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The wreck remains under investigation.

Deputy Kevin Wilson investigated and was assisted at the scene by Glasgow Police Captain Charlie Lowery, Detective Ann Phelps, Special Deputy Shannon White, Constable Buddy Houchens, the Hiseville Volunteer Fire Department and the Barren/Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service.
