 Metcalfe County Reverse 911

Press Release

Metcalfe County Mass Notification System

The Barren – Metcalfe County 911 has purchased a reverse 911 system. This is a valuable service to make the citizens better prepared for emergency situations. Currently everyone that has a residential or business telephone line will be notified by that number. We are encouraging all citizens to sign up for the Metcalfe County Emergency Alert Mass Notification system. This system notifies home or business numbers, cell phones, PDA, emails, or other device in the event of and emergency. This system was designed to notify the public of road closures, hazardous material incidents, missing persons, emergency situations, and any item that affects the safety of the residents of Metcalfe County. It is a public service to the community, an enhancement to the current emergency public broadcast system, a way for Metcalfe emergency personnel to contact the community directly during public emergencies and incidents that could affect you and your family.

Yes, Right now, you are made aware of serious incidents or emergencies thru TV, radios and public alert sirens. However, you have to be watching your TV, listening to your radio, or are near the siren to know the alert. Also, the current public alert method sends the alert to all city and county residents. Under the new system, you can be contacted directly at home, at work, or while you are on the road. How? By phone, text message, pager and email. If you decide to become a part of the new system, you will be able to use it to: Add your phones, pagers and email addresses to your resident profile. Include these same devices for all family members. The registration process is very straightforward. You are directed through the process and kept informed of what you have done and what you need to do. Use this registration website to create a resident profile. Your resident profile will contain: Name, address, Email address and password (to login), and your devices. Devices are phones, pagers and email addresses. You first set yourself as a New User. Once your information has been validated, you will be sent an email at the email address you specified. Retrieve your email and click on the link. The link will take you to a confirmation screen then you will have a resident profile. Click on the caption to login. To learn more about this County-Wide mass notification system just log onto

There is even a website that you can go to that prepares you for emergencies. The website is www.ready.gov. You will build an emergency kit, a plan, and the kids will have a link that they can go to and they will be able to play and prepare themselves.

This is just another way Metcalfe County is working for you. Our office number is 432-3181 if you have any questions.
